| ENCAP TREATMENT DATA SHEET |
|
ENCAP is a high performance polymeric dispersion. Due to the nature of the polymer and the process by which it is applied ENCAP virtually encapsulates every fiber of the substrate thereby imparting superior physical properties such as:
|
|
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
| ENCAP resin only | |
| Tensile strength | 4000 psi (27500 kPa) |
| Elongation | 520% |
| 100% Modulus | 500 psi (3500 kPa) |
| 200% Modulus | 680 psi (4700 kPa) |
| 300% Modulus | 1000 psi (6900 kPa) |
PERFORMANCE (Comparison to HOTLINE fire hose)
| FM abrasion resistance gain | On a standard FM abrasion machine a gain of 100% to 400% can be expected with ENCAP. |
| TABER abrasion resistance gain | A 500% to 600% increase in abrasion can be realized using the TABER abrasion machine. |
| Excellent fungal resistance | Does not support fungal growth |
| Minimal water retention | Two identical pieces of hose soaked in tap water
for 1 hour, one untreated and one treated with ENCAP. After drip drying for 3 minutes, the untreated hose gained 44% of its weight versus 25% for the ENCAP treated hose. |
| Excellent UV resistance | No deterioration after 600 hrs. U.V. (equivalent to 2 years of sunlight) |
| Good heat resistance | 4" (102 mm) propane flame held 1" (25 mm) from hose for 18 seconds to burn through. |
Resistance to fuels, oils and chemicals - 7 days immersion at 70oF (21oC)
