DRIFT is a new patent pending snow making additive that improves snowmaking efficiency, costs less and is easier to use than other snowmaking additives.

Snowmakers benefit from DRIFT in a variety of ways.

DRIFT lowers the natural tendency of water drops to stick together. This allows water to form and flow as a mass of smaller, freer moving droplets, with more exposed surfaces. These smaller droplets freeze more rapidly and thoroughly as they are blown into the cold air -allowing more, drier particles to form in the air and fall on the slope.

Secondly, because the water moves more freely, higher water:air ratios and production at higher wet bulb temperatures are possible - allowing snowmakers flexibility, reducing energy costs and increasing ski area profitability.

What's more, DRIFT has no special handling requirements, no odor, costs less and will keep your equipment well lubricated.

To ensure optimum performance and safety, DRIFT trials were conducted by snowmaking experts at various mountains nation wide. Some trial co-operators include:

Alpine Meadows, CA Bear Valley, CA Alpine Mountain, PA Camelback, PA
Bear Creek, PA Jackson Hole, WY Mountainview Technologies, VT

Comments from Snowmakers about what they liked about DRIFT:

  • Higher Quality Snow
  • Increased Productivity
  • Increased Water Flows
  • Reduced Air Compressor Requirements
  • Easier To Handle
  • Lower Costs
  • Snow Grooms Better
  • Snow Drains Better
  • Snow Is Drier and Fluffier

"With DRIFT, I could make quality snow at temperatures where I shouldn't have been able to make snow at all. We made lots of snow and it was good quality snow. It was dry, drained well and groomed great. The quality of the snow was much better than I've gotten with other additives."
Sean Murphy- Bear Valley, CA

"The results of the five additive snowmaking tests at Killington (February 2001) using (Aquatrols DRIFT) additive indicate that this product does produce a positive gain in snow gun water throughput and does improve snow quality for a given wet bulb (OF) operating temperature."
Yarolslav I. Stanchak- Mountain View Technologies

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

  • DRIFT is used at the rate of 3 to 6 gallons per million gallons of water. It mixes readily with water and can be injected through any standard injection/metering system that already exists on site. If you need information on an injection system, please contact Aquatrols for recommended manufacturers.
  • For Injectors set to inject at 1 ml/gal:
    Mix
DRIFT in the injection mixing tank to obtain a mix ratio of 1 part DRIFT to 100 parts of water (1:100) see chart on label. This will result in an application of approximately 3 gallons of DRIFT/million gallons of water.
  • For Other Injector settings/systems:
    Mix 3-6 gallons of
DRIFT (1 -2 containers) in the amount of water/solution injected into each million gallons of water you expect to use in a snowmaking session.
  • Care should be given to adjusting the flow rate so that the appropriate amount of water is treated.
  • DRIFT mixes readily with water so only one minute of agitation is needed. Turn mixing device off after one minute to avoid excessive foaming.
NOTE: For maximum performance, stock solution should be used within 24 hours.
  • NO special storage is required.
DRIFT comes in a convenient easy to use, 3 gallon "keg", has no odor and is easy to mix.
